Bramble: AI Chat Companion

An AI companion that listens, remembers, and helps you feel heard

"The AI companion that wants you to need it less."

A morning check-in to start your day. An evening wind-down instead of doom-scrolling. In between, something that actually remembers what you said last week and asks how it went.

What is Bramble?

Bramble is an AI chat companion for iPhone and Android, made by Kinetic Origin LLC. It is someone to talk to that listens, remembers, and helps you feel heard: a morning check-in, a midday nudge, an evening wind-down, and memory that follows up on what you mentioned last week. It tells you on day one that it is an AI, not a human and not a therapist. It is free to use, keeps your conversations on your device, and is designed so that you need it less over time.

The part most apps skip

Built to want less of your attention

Most AI chat apps are measured by how long they keep you talking. Bramble is built the other way around — and the design choices that follow from that are the whole point.

It says what it is on day one

Before you send your first message, Bramble tells you plainly: it is an AI, it is not a human, it is not a therapist, and it has limits. No slow reveal, no character to maintain.

There is a daily cap, on purpose

Five messages a day on the free tier, one hundred on Premium. When a conversation runs long, Bramble suggests winding down rather than finding another reason to keep you there.

It points you back toward people

Bramble encourages real-world connection instead of replacing it, and when a conversation sounds like it needs a real therapist or a real friend, it says so instead of filling the space itself.

Crisis goes to real help

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is one tap from the chat screen, with an international directory for users outside the US. Bramble watches for crisis signals on-device and hands off — it never tries to manage a serious moment alone.

How it works

Three small rituals, then it leaves you alone

Bramble is not a chatbot you have to think of questions for. It shows up at a few natural points in the day, starts the conversation itself, and stops.

Morning

The check-in

A brief, grounding start: how you slept, what is on your mind today, what you are walking into. A few minutes, not a session. Available on every tier.

Midday

The nudge

A warm afternoon follow-up on the thing you mentioned this morning — the meeting, the call, the appointment you were dreading.

Evening

The wind-down

Close the day with a few minutes of reflection instead of doom-scrolling. Process what happened, let it go, put the phone down.

Bramble's morning check-in: it asks how you are feeling and what is on your mind, then follows up on the one thing you said you were looking forward to.

The morning check-in

Bramble's evening wind-down: it asks how the day went, notices the day got away from you, and asks what one thing you want to let go of before bed.

The evening wind-down

Bramble opening with something you told it earlier: it remembers your sister was having a hard time at work and asks how she is doing.

Memory that follows up

Memory that follows up

Bramble remembers what you told it and comes back to it. On the free tier that is yesterday's context; Premium remembers across weeks and starts noticing patterns — the same worry circling, the Wednesday slump. It does not diagnose. It notices, gently.

Talk out loud, or just type

Text-to-speech gives Bramble a warm voice and speech-to-text lets you answer without typing. Both run on your device — no cloud speech service, no audio uploaded anywhere. Voice mode is included free; Premium adds ten voices to pick from.

Privacy

Your conversations live on your phone

The honest version, not the marketing version — including the one part that does leave your device.

  • No accounts. No email, no password, no sign-up. Your device holds an anonymous identifier and that is the whole identity system.
  • Conversations stay local. Chat history, memory, and your profile are stored on the device itself, not in a cloud account.
  • Voice never leaves the phone. Speech-to-text and text-to-speech both run on-device. No audio is uploaded.
  • What does leave: to write a reply, the text of the conversation is sent securely to our API and processed by Groq, our third-party AI provider. We do not store it on our servers; Groq may retain it briefly for abuse monitoring.
  • Anonymous usage stats only. App opens, feature use, upgrade views — never message content — so we can tell what is working.
  • No ads, ever. No ad SDKs, no advertising identifier, no selling data, no tracking you across other apps.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app wipes everything stored locally. The small amount kept server-side is keyed to that anonymous device identifier (visible in Settings) and can be purged on request — email [email protected].

The full, legally binding version is the Kinetic Origin privacy policy. This page is the plain-language summary; the policy governs.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Bramble a therapist?

No, and it will tell you so. Bramble is an AI companion, not a licensed professional and not a replacement for one. It declines medical diagnoses, legal counsel, and clinical treatment, and when a conversation sounds like it needs a real therapist, it says that out loud. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline sits one tap from the chat screen, and Bramble watches for crisis signals so it can point you toward real help instead of trying to handle a serious moment on its own.

Is Bramble really an AI?

Yes. Bramble is a large language model with a warm personality, and it tells you that on day one — the disclosure comes during onboarding, before you send your first message. There is no human on the other end and Bramble never pretends otherwise. It names its limits up front rather than waiting for you to run into them.

Where are my conversations stored?

On your phone. Your conversation history, memory, and profile live in local storage on the device, and there are no accounts — just an anonymous identifier generated on the device itself. To write a reply, the text of the conversation is sent securely to our API and processed by Groq, our third-party AI provider. We do not keep it on our servers, though Groq may hold it briefly for abuse monitoring. Voice processing never leaves your phone at all.

What does Bramble cost?

Bramble is free to download and use, and there are no ads on any tier. The free tier includes all three daily rituals, 5 messages a day, yesterday's context as memory, and full voice mode. Bramble Premium is $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year — about 30% less — and adds 100 messages a day, deep memory across weeks, weekly reflections, monthly letters, memory for the people in your life, time capsules, the reflections archive, 10 voices, and deep conversation mode.

What platforms is Bramble on?

iPhone and Android. Bramble is a free download on the App Store and on Google Play, and it is built for the phone you already carry — there is no desktop or web version. It is intended for adults, and both stores list it as an 18+ app.

Why does Bramble want me to need it less?

Because most chat apps are measured by how much time you spend inside them, and building toward that number is how a companion quietly turns into a habit you resent. Bramble is built the other way: there is a daily message cap on every tier, it suggests winding down when a conversation runs long, and it nudges you back toward the people in your actual life. A companion should add to your life without becoming the center of it.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email, and no password — Bramble works the moment you open it. Your device holds an anonymous identifier so the app can keep track of daily messages, and if you subscribe, the subscription is handled through your App Store or Google Play account.

Can I talk to Bramble out loud?

Yes. Text-to-speech gives Bramble a voice and speech-to-text lets you answer without typing, and both run on your device — no cloud speech service is involved and no audio is uploaded. Voice mode is included on the free tier; Premium adds 10 voices to choose from.

If you are in crisis, please reach a human. Bramble is not an emergency service. In the US, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time, free. Outside the US, the app links to an international directory of local crisis centres.
